Financial Support for Families

When a child is facing medical challenges, the weight on a family extends far beyond the diagnosis. Unexpected expenses, time away from work, and daily life can quickly become overwhelming.

The Breanna Caden Frei Foundation provides direct financial assistance to help ease that burden. While we cannot remove the hardship, we aim to provide meaningful support so families can focus on what matters most, their child and their time together.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for support, applicants must:

  • Be a parent or legal guardian of a child (0–18) facing a serious medical condition

  • Reside in Ohio

  • Be experiencing financial hardship related to the child’s medical situation

Families may qualify if they are navigating:

  • A serious illness, injury, or medical diagnosis

  • Ongoing or intensive medical treatment or hospitalization

  • A condition requiring specialized care, equipment, or travel

  • Financial strain caused by time away from work, caregiving demands, or medical costs

Financial assistance may be used for needs such as:

  • Medical bills and treatment-related expenses

  • Therapy or counseling services

  • Prescription medications or medical equipment

  • Travel and lodging for treatment

  • Essential household expenses (rent, utilities, groceries)

  • Funeral or memorial expenses

General Guidelines

  • Assistance is based on available funding and level of need

  • Requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis

  • Families may be asked to provide supporting documentation (medical or financial)

  • Funding is typically provided as a one-time grant

  • Payments may be made directly to service providers when possible

Ineligible Requests

The Foundation is generally unable to provide funding for:

  • Non-essential or luxury expenses

  • Expenses already fully covered by insurance or other programs

  • Requests outside the defined geographic or mission scope

  • Ongoing long-term financial support
